Our take: an ASX listing isn't the same as Australian control

TPG Telecom is ASX-listed, which makes it easy to assume it's Australian controlled. But roughly half its shares sit with Vodafone Group (UK) and CK Hutchison (Hong Kong) since the 2020 Vodafone-TPG merger, and that ownership sits behind the iiNet, Internode and Westnet brands too, not just the TPG name. Being listed in Australia and being controlled from Australia are two different questions.
